Have you ever been made to feel low about your own body or worst, disgraced? Well this is
what exactly that we are going to address today. Our society has made several “beauty”
parameters which are very strong and cut to the point. And it is very important for a
particular person to be fitting into these parameters to be socially acceptable and
appreciable. But how much is it right? Even we many a times knowing or unknowingly body
shame others. Yes even us!!!
While describing a particular person we usually start exaggerating on their body, which is
wrong. We usually use disgraceful adjective for the body part of a person when we are not
very fond of them, even after knowing that it is unethical to comment on body type. The
various adjectives that are required for you to be perfect can be summed up by a particular
height, weight, complexion shapes and sizes of body part, etc. This is ridiculous! How can
anyone make a person feel low about the things that are not even in their control?
Let me just help you out there, if you are thinking that only women or rather females are
falling prey to body shaming and only they are victim to the whole ideology of “being
perfect” then you are mistaken. Men do face the same, maybe in different ways but they
do. Even they are judged for not having a toned body, a perfect height and if they are not in
every aspect “manly”. I mean seriously? MANLY?!? I mean from where do these norms even
come from, who made them, who made these parameters?
Unknowingly we get influenced by the body type of the member of the glamour world such
as the actors and the models and treat their body image to be perfect. This causes low self
esteem and finally depression. Many a times people end up harming themselves
because of being body shamed. Today the requirement of being physically perfect has taken
up so much importance that people’s talent have taken a back seat. This means that one
does not need talent to excel but perfect body. How much is that correct or justified? This causes us to
lose onto millions of real talent as they become victim of body shaming.
Thus Pluse_ask is on a hunt to remove body shaming form the society before it causes further damage. Join us and help to make our society a better place to live in: where people are not judged by their body type but by their nature and talent.
