The complexity of complexion

Idealism is like a vision of utopia. It stays in our head .The problem starts to surface when we take it in literal sense.
A fair skinned girl is like an asset in Indian families .Our obsession with light color has only transformed into various aspects. The endless quest to reach a shade lighter is our ultimate definition for beauty
In India its a very common colloquial saying called -" Jo gori nahi bhai so chori nahi ".
meaning "She who isn't fair as snow
Just isn't a girl bro ".
Perhaps the britishers long gone discrimination towards brown skin has left such an imprint  in our minds .
Even today most of the matrimonial site vacancies always state a condition
"A milky white complexion bride required".
Somehow this mentality causes self - esteem issues in brown skinned girls. They start feeling inferior among the peach white blessed beauties.
As ridiculous as it sounds , its embedded deep in the minds of people who believe beauty has a marked definition characterised by fair skin.
Does it stand on the brink  idealism or a blatant racism?
However there is no denying the fact that our prejudice towards fair skin is something that's alike in every background , society and community. Many at times the brown colored girls also face bullying in the hands of their collleagues and seniors.
Another shocking behaviour and attitude of Indian society towards brown complexioned girls is the endless friendly advice given or rather thrown on them over daily basis making them ashamed of even standing before the mirror.
"Don't take tea or coffee dear" you will become black or other sarcastic comments like
"Don't you think she is too dark for a  bride"?
Sometimes parents even discourage their daughters to play or go out in the sun for the fear of getting tanned and possibly rejected. In complete contradiction of western culture where people spend hours getting tanned considering it a standardised symbol of inherent beauty.
Talking about standards of beauty ,the maximum beauty paegent winners who barged the  recognition have mostly been dusky in complexion.
From priyanka chopra, lara dutta ,lisa haydon all have been lovely brown beauties.
This signifies the stark contrast in what we indian  consider as beautiful to what is the international standards of beauty.
Its high time to stop this racial discrimination and understand the fact that "beauty runs in diversity".

White skin girl is a true beauty
Why are we creating this false reality
Too dark to be pretty
Loathing in self pity
Defining colors in black and white
Because a peach skinned girl  is a pleasing sight
You ain't beautiful if you are brown
You cant be the talk of the town
Its time to break the stereotype norm
The fact is  that beauty comes in all form
Because we are much more than color of our skin
And nothing competes greater than the beauty within
